In Quicken 2010 for Windows, I can enter the dividends and capital gains for a given fund and date all in one window in the Mac 2017 version, however, I must go the through the process multiple times to get the same result (e.g., once for a dividend, a second time for a short-term capital gain, and a third time for a long-term capital gain).Details: Quicken for Mac imports data from Quicken for Windows 2010 or newer.Aside from stupidity on my part from manually entering transactions and making a mistake in entering the correct amount (back in the days prior to downloading transactions), I have NEVER in over 30 years of using Quicken had my account not reconcile to the penny doing my monthly reconciliation.Until this month. Check the.I have used Quicken since back in the DOS days. The establishing balance might be taken from your ending stability of the preceding statement to start with at the time of reconciling an account. Quicken undo reconciliation, can you undo a reconciliation in quicken, quicken undo last reconciliation, how. Quicken undo reconciliation. I can easily undo transactions and select multiple transactions. No problem reconciling my Quicken Mac a week ago and the balance is spot on with my bank's balance. No need to go into why, but I do. So.I go back and adjust the Opening Balance by three cents this time. Now, mind you.I also run Quicken Mac in parallel to my Quicken Windows.
All I know is that now my Quicken Windows, Quicken Mac and my bank balances are all the same. But I have a hunch that Quicken's Express Web Connect using the same server as their Quicken Cloud and QCS has messed up my account. And since I have transactions there since 1986, I'm sure not going to start hunting down the process. Thus, I had to re-connect and re-link the proper checking account from my bank to my account in Quicken. That may have changed the Opening Balance. For some dopey reason, my bank (not Quicken's fault) was downloading transactions from my Debit card (which I never use) and using that account number instead of my checking account. I've done this for about three months now and aside from this month, worked to the penny as before.Second, my bank for my checking account, connected through Express Web Connect, had a change which required I disconnect the account from downloads and then reconnect it. How can this happen? Two things did change, which may or may not be related to the problem.I changed from reconciling from a Paper Statement to reconciling to an Online Balance. That way if I accidentally screw something up and change a historical transaction somehow (usually changing categories), I just start scanning for those green flags to see if the amount in the comment still equals balance. In the comments for that flag I put the current balance amount that it reconciled to. I’ve done it many times before. One trick that I do now is that when I reconcile for the month and get everything perfect, I add a green flag to that last transaction that has the right balance on it. What I would have done in reality is gone Liam Neeson in Taken on it and tracked that penny down no matter how long it took or what ever other accounts I disrupted in the process. I would have just put in an adjustment transaction for 1 cent and called it a day.Well, that’s what I would do in theory to just make the problem go away. I wouldn’t have changed my opening balance back in 1986. After using Quicken since 1990, all of a sudden my account is off by a penny when I reconcile? Then, it's off by 3 cents? Something isn't right there.Luckily, I run Quicken Mac too, basically in parallel, since 2017. After all, who writes a check for one or three cents? Never.I suspect when I had to de-activate my checking account from downloads and then re-activated it, something changed in that Opening Balance somehow.Obviously, I'm keeping my eye on the account running balance now and making sure that it agrees with my Quicken Mac register.Exactly. And sure enough, the Opening Balance was different in the Quicken Windows register. So, the question bodes.how the heck after all these years did the Opening Balance get changed.and how did it get changed TWICE? Once by a penny and once again by three cents? Not good.We all know that it couldn't have been a deleted transaction. No discrepancies at all.I mean, since the Quicken Mac register was imported from Quicken Windows some five years ago and has the same complete transaction history as my Quicken Windows register and since I never had an issue with either one of them reconciling to the penny every single month, I became a bit suspicious. My Quicken Mac register reconciled just fine. Hope you get it resolved.Well, I probably would have spent more time hunting the problem down if I didn't use Quicken Mac in parallel to my Quicken Windows. The fact that the Opening Balance in my Quicken Windows register was somehow changed and now different than the Opening Balance in my Quicken Mac register made me change it. Quicken 2017 Reconcile To Online Balance Plus Any QuickenOther Quicken users have had similar problems and have been told to either sign out of Quicken and sign back in.or to delete their Quicken Cloud data set. I think that Quicken Cloud data is corrupted. Their QCS server also contains your subscription ID and password, your Express Web Connect passwords plus any Quicken Cloud data. And of course, EVERY month has reconciled TO THE PENNY in the Mac version, including last month. So imagine my surprise when Quicken Windows was off by a penny.and then I discovered that the Opening Balance in the Windows version was somehow different than in the Mac version.I really suspect that Quicken's new Express Web Connect via it's QCS servers is all screwed up. Qif exported file from Quicken Windows into Quicken Mac. Back in 2017 I imported a. Helter skelter downloadBecause I was easily able to see that the Opening Balance in the Windows and Mac registers were different by a penny.and then three cents. I'm not absolutely sure, though. As to my solution, I was lucky that I had my Quicken Mac data. It may be from a previous attempt to use Quicken Cloud and the Quicken mobile app.and may be from an attempt many, many years ago with bad data remnants somehow ported to Quicken users via the server. It found NO errors or problems.Reading this reminded me I ran into the same issue a few months ago. All the rest of my accounts use Direct Connect.Aside from changing the original Opening Balance and watching this account balance daily, I don't have any other pearls of wisdom to maintain the integrity of Quicken's data file.PS I did validate and super validate my Quicken Windows data file. And, this one account is the ONLY account that uses Quicken's Express Web Connect method for downloads. I find myself comparing the balances for this account daily now for fear that it becomes out of balance. After all, how many one cent or three cent transactions do you have in your checking account? I would venture to guess "none".However, my confidence in the integrity of my Quicken file has diminished greatly since then. They both should have been zero. After a lot of head scratching and digging through all the transactions I noticed the opening balance on each was non-zero. I noticed something was off in the balances for these accounts. So, it calculated your balance back a few months ago.and in the. Usually, they download 60-90 days of transactions. Your bank cannot download transactions all the way back from 1997.
